SAUGET, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers jumped to a 2-0 lead but the Gateway Grizzlies scored eight unanswered runs against Schaumburg starter Cameron Roth and held off the Boomers in an 8-6 victory on Friday.
The Boomers came ready against Gateway starter Tim Brown, who started the All-Star Game for the West. Sean Mahley recorded a double for the Boomers in the second and scored on a fielder’s choice from Jereme Milons. Chad Mozingo’s solo homer in the third extended the lead to 2-0.
